Not A Box

Not a Box

After having an empty box arrive in our class we read the story - ‘Not a Box’ and started to explore the box and think about what we could make it into.

Planning
A lot of people had different ideas about what we could make the box into. Everybody that had an idea made a plan to share with the class. The plans included the details they thought would need to go on the box as well as what colours they thought we should use.

Voting
We then voted on the design we liked the best and made a graph with each of our votes. A submarine it was to be!

Researching
We then needed to do some research to find out how we could make a submarine as well as what other things we could put in our role play area to go with our submarine. We looked in some books that we got from the library and recorded our ideas.

Building It
Ms. Tracy had to do a lot of the cutting but we painted and helped to build our submarine. We had fish, fishing rods, nets, underwater animals, a sand tray - and even a shark!

Enjoying It
We then had so much fun pretending we were underwater in our very own submarine - although after a week and a half it is looking a little worse for wear after so much enthusiastic use!
